The AppRun 2023 offers young talents the opportunity to expand their skills in app development. We support this competition and are proud that our apprentices Thierry Klötzli and Jérôme Poffet are taking part in it.
The AppRun is a competition aimed at apprentices or high school students who want to deepen their knowledge of Android app development, regardless of their level of experience. Thierry and Jérôme are our two apprentices who are taking up this challenge.
This year's app challenges
Thierry and Jérôme are developing five different apps in the AppRun. The tasks range from a treasure map search to a memory game, a metal detector, a Morse coder and a pixel painter.
Jérôme and Thierry in the AppRun: Their experience
Jérôme and Thierry emphasise that they have benefited from every phase of the AppRun so far. Even with their basic knowledge of Java and the fundamental principles of app development that they learnt in the foundation year or in the learning mode, the AppRun is an exciting opportunity to learn new skills. In particular, the switch from the Java programming language to Kotlin and the integration of mobile phone sensors such as GPS, camera and magnetic sensor into the apps provide them with valuable experience. They have already made enormous progress. What is particularly impressive is that with each new app they develop, the app development process becomes much leaner and more efficient.
What's next on the agenda?
The AppRun 2023 is still in full swing, and 11 November 2023 is the deadline for submitting the fourth app. The final app will then be completed by 2 December, followed by the exciting treasure hunt and award ceremony on the same day.
